Baseball Unit

Baseball is such fun topic to teach reading and writing through. Many kids love baseball and the ones that don’t will still appreciate a themed unit. Now, you could take it step further and do a room transformation–however, you don’t have to! Here are a few I have seen though!

However, there is no NEED for that–just if you want to! Moving along to TEACHING. I always like to start a unti with a book. Below are a few books I really love about baseball and I like to spread them out through the week (or 3 days) that I do the baseball unit!

This next one is one have in my classroom but LOVE to listen to it/watch it with my students on YouTube.

Just a reminder, I spread those out through the week! Another one of my favorite resources in Shelly Reeses Baseball Resource!

I like to watch a video over Jackie Robinson and spend some time discussing him and the impact he had on the sport.

Lastly, I am adding this THIS year. I created a resource about Opening Day for MLB and just overall Research, Inferencing, Comrepehension, etc. about the MLB. I know the kids will really love this!

As a reflection (after the unit) have the students discuss in partners then make on chart paper a list of things they learned or found inspiring that they can share with the class. I hope this has helped!
